Code of Conduct
To make sure everyone enjoys the weekend, we ask that you please treat one another with kindness, respect and the appropriate consent! It's important that we all feel comfortable, both on and off the dance floor.
These all represent good conduct:
- Requesting consent from another dancer before touching or dancing with them.
- Respecting another dancer's wishes if they say no.
- Not prescribing gender roles when dancing, and always asking other dancers which role they would prefer before dancing.
- Respecting others' pronouns, gender and sexual orientation.
- Respecting personal boundaries, particularly within close dance styles (such as Blues).
- Not performing aerials outside of jam circles.
- Not offering unsolicited advice on others' dancing.
The following behaviours will not be tolerated:
- Violent, indecent, disorderly, threatening or offensive behaviour.
- Sexual misconduct; this includes sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual abuse or anything of a sexual nature that is without consent, including online conduct.
- Abusive, threatening or offensive language (verbal or written) of any kind, whether spoken or online.
- Bullying and harassment; this includes bullying of any individual or harassment of any individual based on protected characteristics (such as race, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation).
- Any action likely to cause injury or impair the safety of other dancers or teachers both in and outside of classes/socials.
- Consumption of alcohol during classes or socials (this is part of our room hire contract).

Health & Safety
In addition to our code of conduct, we also ask you to please be mindful of others and behave safely to avoid any accidents!
Be aware of:
- Dressing appropriately: when dancing, ensure you're wearing appropriate footwear and clothing! Failure to do this may result in tripping hazards for yourself and your fellow dancers.
- Not performing aerials on the social dance floor: this puts yourself and others at risk of serious injury.
- Floorcraft: be careful of others' movement when dancing.
- Your partner: be wary of any injuries or disabilities if those have been communicated to you, and be respectful as per our code of conduct.
Off the dance floor, make sure you dress appropriately for the weather, and be careful of trams when moving around Sheffield.
There will be a first aider present in classes and socials during the weekend who you can go to with any concerns. If there is an emergency, please call 999 or go straight to A&E in Northern General Hospital (Herries Rd, Sheffield S5 7AU).
