Workshops

These will all take place on the Sunday. You can choose a one hour morning workshop and a two hour afternoon workshop to fill each slot.

You'll have the opportunity to sign up to the workshops you'd like to do during the weekend to secure your place, but equally feel free to show up to whichever you prefer on the day! Just be aware that you may be turned away if there isn't enough space.

There'll also be an optional stretching class running over the latter half of lunch—we particularly advise you join in with this if you're planning on doing some aerials afterward!

Optional Lunchtime Workshop

(45 minutes)

Stretching

with Jeff

When you've been dancing all weekend, it's important to make sure you stretch! This class will leave you feeling nice and loose and ready for the afternoon ahead. Feel free to jump in and out of the session depending on which body part you need to stretch.

Afternoon Workshops

(2 hours)

Aerials

with Bruce & Jane

Starting with a few simple lifts and tricks, we'll be focusing on timing, teamwork, technique and trust to build up to some bigger and flashier (albeit safe and achievable) aerials in the two hours.

Partner required (as we won't be rotating), wear soft, stretchy clothes and non-slippy shoes (trainers ideal), and no sharp belt buckles/jewellery etc. Aerial technique requires a base and a flyer partnership rather than a leader and follower, and we strongly recommend, for obvious safety reasons, that the bigger of the couple works as the base. Participants are also welcome to work as a three and take turns, if bases or flyers are in short supply!

A Whistle-Stop Tour of Black British Music & Dance

with Trisha

Explore a range of black British dance styles and music and its evolution through time.

Beginners' Collegiate Shag

with Hannah & Ali

A workshop to get you social dancing! Learn the fundamentals needed to start your Collegiate Shag journey and kickstart your social dancing.
